This Month – October 2018

October 2018 Ideas

October: When in Doubt, Play a Game!

This month, preferably a game with a Romanian flavor!

Water and Fire: “Water and Fire” is a game children in Romania love to play. Much like the American game “Hot and Cold,” one player must leave the room while the others hide an object. The seeker will return to find the hidden object and must be guided by clues from the other players. Children will say Fire if the seeker is close and Water if the seeker is far away.

For more ideas, click here to find a large menu of Romanian games. Adapt as needed for review games or to extend your meeting.

October: Romanian Eggs

Painted decorative eggs are unique works of art created in many regions of Romania. While colors and symbols vary, the basic colors of red, blue, yellow, black, and green are used.

October: Faith at Work

Refer to p. 39 in the Sep • Oct • Nov 2018 issue of RA Leader.

Cameron Armstrong is a church planter in Bucharest, Romania. He teaches a class at the Bucharest Baptist Seminary on evangelism—telling people about Jesus.

Cameron and his team have recently started a ministry called Faith at Work. This ministry hosts seminars in Bucharest and in other cities in Romania. At these seminars, Romanian businesspeople learn how to share their faith where they work. Cameron and his team want to “create a disciple-making movement among the Romanian business community.”

When they get ready to hold a seminar, they look for 3 businesspeople who can share their faith without using “Christianese” words their co-workers won’t understand. They ask these businesspeople to speak at the seminar. As part of the seminar, Romanian business leaders discuss ideas and share stories. At the end of the seminar, everyone goes out to eat at a nearby restaurant.

Cameron Armstrong shares this prayer request: “Pray for future Faith at Work seminars in our city. Pray that we will find Romanian believers who would challenge and be challenged in the calling to live out their faith in the workplace.”
