Focus on WMU

Focus on WMU 2017

Focus on WMU, February 13–19, is the perfect time to introduce or reintroduce your church members to what WMU is and how they can get radically involved in God’s mission.

WMU is holistic discipleship. From preschoolers to adults, we provide relevant resources to learn about and pray for missions, as well as opportunities to apply knowledge and passion through giving, serving, and supporting missions.

LEARN

WMU promotes missional living through our organizations:

PRAY

Through WMU, believers learn how to apply the power of prayer for the spread of the gospel and pray specifically for needs around the world as they learn of missions needs and current social issues. Those in WMU missions organizations who pray daily for missionaries on their birthdays using the missionary prayer calendar pray for every Southern Baptist missionary over a 365-day period literally all over the world.

GIVE

By encouraging gifts to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, WMU supports North American Mission Board and International Mission Board personnel as they share the gospel at home and abroad.

SERVE

WMU ministries provide opportunities to use abilities and gifts to serve through missions trips such as Familyfest and Missionsfest, Children’s Ministry Day, or Christian Women’s Job Corps/Christian Men’s Job Corps.

SUPPORT

WorldCrafts; Pure Water, Pure Love (PWPL); and the WMU Foundation are just a few ways to support missions efforts through WMU.

  • WorldCrafts develops sustainable, fair-trade businesses among impoverished people around the world. Its artisan groups seek to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of their workers.
  • PWPL provides water filters for missionaries and well projects around the world. Thanks to generous donations from churches and individuals, PWPL provided more than 2,000 water filters and filter replacement parts for missionaries serving in the United States and around the world in 2015.
  • The WMU Foundation provides financial support for WMU, enabling donors to support Southern Baptist missions and ministry work through WMU. Over the past 20 years, the WMU Foundation has given more than $10.8 million in scholarships and grants to support missions and ministry around the world.
