The Christian Women's Leadership Center exists to engage Christian women in discovering and developing their leadership gifts and skills through holistic learning experiences so they may serve effectively as God calls them in life, the marketplace, and the church.
An online, on-demand leadership certificate program will launch in September 2016. Designed for women leaders who desire for their leadership to be rooted in their relationship with Christ and based on biblical principles, the certificate program will provide flexible learning opportunities for women with busy lifestyles and multiple responsibilities. Courses in leadership foundations, leadership formation, and leadership skills will assist participants in creating or refining their personal leadership style. For more information and to register, please visit our online education portal -www.ChristianLeaderLearning.com.
Christian women leaders in the Birmingham area are invited to the CWLC luncheons held the first Wednesday of each month, September - December and February - May. Designed to engage Christian women in professional development, networking, and fellowship, the luncheons cover a variety of topics of interest for women leaders in multiple generations. Participants learn from one another’s experiences and become a community of leadership support. You can register for the CWLC luncheons here.
As a component of the holistic experiential education at WMU, the CWLC supports students participating in WMU’s internship program each semester. We provide leadership surveys, self-assessments, strengths assessments, and personal consulting with the CWLC consultant as well as a dialogue with the WMU executive director. Interns are provided a snapshot of the leadership skills others perceive compared to personal perceptions. Each intern is encouraged to set personal goals that will enhance his or her leadership skills.
We believe Jesus Christ, God's Son, gave His life as a sacrifice for the salvation of all people of the world, fulfilling God's plan for the ages as revealed in the Bible, God's Holy Word. Seeking to reflect God's character in all we do, we believe we are called to be active participants in God's kingdom on earth through the various roles and responsibilities entrusted to us.
We recognize and celebrate the giftedness of women and seek to assist them in developing their gifts and skills in serving Christ as they undertake leadership opportunities and responsibilities.
We consider leadership a process of influencing and empowering others to accomplish the mission of a group or an organization. The direction and the methods of the leadership process must be consistent with God's purposes, character, and ways.
We provide holistic learning experiences, best practices, and support for Christian women in leadership. The center, an initiative of WMU and funded, in part, by a grant from the Eleanor Terry Endowment through the WMU Foundation, is committed to pursuing excellence in lifelong learning opportunities for Christian women.
