DAY FOUR - 30 Days of Prayer for Pastors and Missionaries

Trust in the Lord and do what is good;
dwell in the land and live securely.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will act.

(Psalm 37:3-5, CSB)

David knew God, and God knew David. Their relationship was constant, committed, and characteristic of unconditional love. David was a man after God’s own heart. He longed to experience his Creator’s presence no matter the time, place, or circumstance.

On more than one occasion, God called David to step out in faith and dwell in the joy of new scenery. Whether surrounded by the challenges of the battlefield or within the comfort and confines of the cave, David knew he had to trust God not only for his protection but also ultimately for his victories.

Dear Father, today our missionaries and pastors are surrounded by challenges and ever-present dangers. Many of them face persecution. However, You know them. You know their struggles. Help them today to take delight in You as they trust and commit their ways to You. Bless their families as they are called out into unknown territory to care for others. Father, go before them and act on their behalf. We pray that in every circumstance You may be honored. Amen.
