Jesus let out a loud cry and breathed his last. Then the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. When the centurion, who was standing opposite him, saw the way he breathed his last, he said, “Truly this man was the Son of God!”
(Mark 15:37–39, CSB)

The Son of God. The Bread of Life. The Living Water. The Good Shepherd. The Way. The Truth. The Life.

Arrested on false charges. Scorned. Mocked. Beaten beyond recognition. Hung on an instrument of shame between two criminals. Tortured until He died.=

Here is our Savior.

We speak often of His sacrifice. Today, Good Friday, will you spend time reading the Gospel accounts to fully immerse yourself in the enormity and intensity of it all?

He silently endured this for you. For us. For the world.

What will you do with so great a salvation?

Father, we are left speechless by Your love as we recount and remember the torment Your Son endured to rescue us from our sin and restore our relationship with you. Today, as pastors and missionaries are praying and caring for their faith families, please provide time for them to get alone with You to focus on the ministry of the cross and the Savior’s love. Tomorrow will be a day of final preparation for Easter sermons that will be delivered in new and creative ways. The urgency of the message weighs heavy on their hearts. Worship leaders will be called. Teachers will be conferenced with. Words will be tweaked, and technology will be tested. So, today, Father, today give them rest—rest for their bodies and peace for their minds and spirits. Thank You for Your Great Love. Amen.
