WMU Missions Celebration and Annual Meeting--FAQs

We hope you will join us June 11–12, 2017 in Phoenix! Prepare to be inspired, challenged, and equipped in your missional walk during this two-day event.

 

How much does it cost to attend?

The WMU Missions Celebration and Annual Meeting is free of charge. All are welcome.

 

Do I need to preregister to attend?

Preregistration is not required. On-site registration opens at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11.

 

Where will the WMU Missions Celebration take place? How do I get there?

The WMU Missions Celebration and Annual Meeting will be at the Renaissance Phoenix Downtown Hotel Ballroom. The street address for the hotel is 100 N. 1st Street, Phoenix, Arizona, 85004.

 

Where should I stay in Phoenix?

You are encouraged to reserve rooms through the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting web site at sbcannualmeeting.net.

 

Is there anything I should bring?

Yes! At the WMU Missions Celebration, we will gather supplies for hygiene kits that will be put together by children participating in SBC child care that week in Phoenix. These kits will be given to the Arizona Baptist Children’s Services (ABCS) who will then use the supplies to bless the individuals and families it serves.

Please bring any of the following travel-sized items:

  • Shampoo
  • Lotion
  • Toothpaste
  • Bar soap
  • Sunscreen
  • Deodorant
  • Wet wipes
  • Regular-sized toothbrushes

 

What should I pack to wear? What type of weather can I expect?

Casual dress is fine for general sessions and breakout sessions.

Daytime temperatures should be around 100 degrees and night time lows in the mid-70s. Check here for the latest forecast before you pack for Phoenix.

 

When should I get there?

Registration opens at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11. Whether you register in advance online or register on-site, please stop by the registration desk to pick up important information about the Missions Celebration.

The event begins Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with a variety of pre-session conferences.

 

Will there be giving opportunities to support missions?

Yes, you will have an opportunity to support WMU by giving through the WMU Foundation during the general session on Monday evening.

 

Will there be a store on-site to purchase resources and items from WMU?

Yes! For your convenience, there will be a WMU Bookstore onsite with the latest missional resources from WMU, inspiring books from New Hope Publishers, and unique fair-trade gifts from WorldCrafts.

 

Will child care be provided?

Child care will be provided by the Southern Baptist Convention.
