Your Move

Have you ever felt that life was like a game of . . . (insert game of choice). The cliché would finish by saying “chess,” but in my house the games of choice would be Memory, Yahtzee, or Go Fish.

I am sure at times we have felt that we are just going through the motions, living from one moment to the next. If you have small children in your home, there are times when you live minute to minute, trust me, I’ve been there. As mothers we can be so overwhelmed by this role and the job it brings that we miss opportunities God has placed in our paths.

In Hebrews 13:20–21 we read, “Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen” (NIV). In this Scripture I smile and find joy and hope that where God has called me He will equip me and enable me to accomplish His calling, I don’t have to try to do it all on my own. Now, the God Who equips us as mothers in our home, can and will equip us outside our doors in our churches, communities, and workplace.

Just as in a game we take turns of play, I believe this is where God is saying, “Your move.” Your missions field is where God has placed you. If that does not mean a remote village, that is okay. Your church/community is a prime location to reach, teach, equip, and encourage mothers and children.

There is a catchy challenge that WMU has, and it can be a great springboard from conversation to action. It's Connect the DOTS: discover new members, organize groups, teach churches, spotlight entry points. Incredible resources are available through www.wmu.com for every age and stage of life. Don’t feel like you have to re-invent the wheel to begin a new group. I pray as God speaks to your heart of how He would have you be a part of the ministry in your church and missions in your community, you would allow these words to resonate within you. Where God calls you, He equips you. This includes the support and encouragement of us here at WMU. May we be open to follow His leadership.
