Camps

Camping: It's Intense! (Get it? In-Tents?)

School is almost out for the summer, and you know what that means: it’s vacation time, y’all! All year long we eagerly await the summer, and when it finally arrives all seems right with the world. Maybe you’re already making plans, or (if you’re like me) maybe you’re ready for the summer breeze to blow you where it will! No matter what your summertime planning inclinations may be, make sure you make a little room for children’s missions camp.

Camp is such an important time in a child’s life. I can still remember many of the lessons I learned years ago at camp. One of my memories involves a fire-building competition mishap resulting in the loss of my singed eyebrows.

The other memory I hold close even to this day is one of a missionary who was involved in a terrible car accident on the field. He had learned how to walk and talk again after many months of grueling physical therapy. But when he did stand and speak at camp, he spoke about the cost of living as an ambassador for Christ. Costly, yes, but completely worth every minute of struggle.

Children's Missions Camp

Do your kids like to hike, do crafts and learn about missions? Do they enjoy swimming, playing games and studying the Bible? How about making new friends they’ll never forget? If so, send them to children’s missions camp!

WHAT IS THE VALUE OF CAMP?

Should your group go to camp this summer? Consider these possible benefits as you make your plans.

Men Make a Difference at Royal Ambassadors Camps

Have you ever wondered what makes attending a Royal Ambassadors camp such a unique experience? The first time I experienced the excitement that comes from attending an RA camp, I was ten years old. I was invited to join the RA chapter at First Baptist Church, since our church did not have an RA chapter. It was at RA camp that I first heard the words of the RA Pledge spoken at flag raising. I watched as boys and men recited the RA Pledge together, and I could see in the eyes of the men that they had a passion for living out the words of the pledge. At RA camp, I learned about archery, basic Campcraft skills, and missions. I still remember the words from a campfire service. The words were spoken by young men who performed a campfire drama called “My Life Was Never the Same,” which illustrated how people’s lives are changed forever when they accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Are Summer Camps Still Relevant Today?

We live in a world where technology is integrated into just about every aspect of our lives. Self-driving cars, microwaves, phones with computers in them (or is it the other way around?) and even electric toothbrushes! And yet, every summer, thousands of children and their leaders flock to summer camps all over the country. How can this be? No WiFi? No phones? Say it isn’t so!
