International Initiatives

International InitiativesSM, a Ministry of WMU®

    Liberia
    Ricks Institute

Ricks Institute began as a kindergarten through 12th grade coeducational, residential campus with the ability to serve and house more than 650 students, faculty, and additional staff. However, the campus was destroyed during the 14-year Liberian civil war, even serving as a point of battle.

Now, along with the war-torn country, Ricks Institute is trying to rebuild. By providing free, primary (K–6), faith-based education, the staff and faculty seek to educate and heal the children of Liberia. Today it serves as a day school for approximately 425 students and includes an Accelerated Learning Program for students who have been victimized by the civil war.
