BNF Fall '09 Newsletter

The Baptist Nursing Fellowship is a Christian organization of health-care professionals. BNF promotes continuing professional education and growth for members.

The main purpose of the organization is to encourage health-care service evolving from a personal commitment to Jesus Christ. There are many ways in which this encouragement is offered. Read below about the many ways that you can be a part of this incredible mission.

Assisting
Baptist Nursing Fellowship offers many different kinds of assistance to its members as well as to missionary nurses on the missions field. Some of the most popular kinds of assistance are special training conferences, local and overseas health-care projects, and support of and fellowship with Christian health-care personnel.

Praying
One of the most impacting opportunities available through the BNF is the opportunity to be involved through prayer. BNF members are encouraged to pray for one another and for medical work both locally and overseas.

Supplying
BNF supplies tangible resources to help meet needs of members and missionary nurses alike. Some of the tangible ways that BNF meets needs are providing special training; books, magazines, other printed materials; meetings; medical supplies; and financial resources.

Upgrading
BNF understands the constant need to upgrade and update the education of its members. Therefore opportunities for continued education are presented in order that members may participate in planned medical programs in a variety of areas of interest to health-care professionals.

Trust Funds
BNF has three trust funds:

The Student Nurses Trust Fund supports the involvement of BNF student nurses in mission projects.

The Ellen D. Tabor Trust Fund provides financial support for continuing education and training for missionary nurses. The fund also provides national BNF members financial support for health-care missions/ministry projects.

BNF Hope Fund provides financial support for the development and maintenance of the National BNF organization.

Moneys for the trust funds listed above are invested with Woman's Missionary Union Foundation in Birmingham, Alabama. Applications for the use of these moneys are made through the national BNF office.

Additional Fund
Marjorie Grober Special Projects Fund is used by BNF members for special missions projects. Applications are made through the national BNF office.

BNF Prayer Needs

  • BNF State Chapters—that established chapters will grow and that states without BNF will start.
  • BNF Trust Funds—that members will generously contribute and encourage others to contribute to the trust funds in honor of a nurse who has been important in their life.
  • Missionary Nurses—who face many challenges on the mission field and when on stateside assignments.

"Your prayers were answered as our 17 member dental team arrived with ALL of their luggage and no problems getting their equipment through customs. PTL for the faithfulness of our Heavenly Father. Please realize this was quite a feat in our part of the world because many volunteer teams struggle with their luggage arriving with them as well as having problems going through customs."

"Obviously our Father wanted this dental team to hit the road running and was planning to bless their efforts. Folks, we saw 502 patients in four days in four different locations. There have been a total of 14 new believers because of the effort of these precious volunteers. Eleven directly related to the clinic. How awesome is that! "—From missionary nurse, Anne
