Ricks Institute began as a kindergarten through 12th grade coeducational, residential campus with the ability to serve and house more than 650 students, faculty, and additional staff. However, the campus was destroyed during the 14-year Liberian civil war, even serving as a point of battle.
Now, along with the war-torn country, Ricks Institute is trying to rebuild. By providing free, primary (K–6), faith-based education, the staff and faculty seek to educate and heal the children of Liberia. Today it serves as a day school for approximately 560 students and includes an Accelerated Learning Program for students who have been victimized by the civil war.
WMU is partnering with Ricks Institute on the following:
- Support for the Agriculture/Animal Husbandry curriculum
