Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Many Arab women suffer from abuse, violence, sexual harassment, honor crimes, male child preferences, violations of civil rights, and a lack of education all because they are women. Sixty percent of Arab women cannot read, and many Arab women live isolated lives.

Arab Woman Today Ministries is a ministry of Arab women to Arab women. This ministry is based in Jordan and reaches the 22 Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa. They seek to impact Arab woman spiritually, socially, and economically. They do this by providing the following:

  • A 15-minute radio program for Arab woman who cannot read. Many women do not have access to the media due to personal circumstances or war.
  • An Internet site with information both in Arabic and in English for younger Arab woman who can read.
  • Conferences for women on social issues, leadership training, and networking. The conferences provide Arab women support and assistance in their ministries.

WMU® is partnering with AWT to support and assist in the leadership training of the AWT staff and women of the Arab world.
