Princess

Memorize and give meaning of the following Scriptures (in quoting give Star Ideal, and Scripture reference):
•Abiding in Him through Prayer: Matthew 7:7–12
•Advancing in Wisdom by Bible Study: Psalm 119:9–11,105; Mark 13:31; 2 Timothy 2:15
•Acknowledging My Stewardship: Matthew 6:19–21; 2 Corinthians 9:7
•Adorning Myself with Good Works: Mark 10:44–45; Matthew 5:16; 25:40
•Accepting the Challenge of the Great Commission: Luke 24:45; Acts 1:8; Isaiah 6:8

In addition to being able to quote each passage in its entirety, the girl will tell in her own words what each Scripture passage means to her. The counselor will encourage the GA to read the passages in several translations and to consult Bible commentaries before formulating the meaning. This is an opportunity to help the GA to understand in-depth the biblical background of the Star Ideas and see the relevance of these to her own life.

Give in your own words a brief statement of Baptist beliefs. This should include the following: Scripture, salvation, church, baptism, Lord's Supper, missions, Trinity. Give a definition of each according to Baptist beliefs and an explanation of symbolism, if any, connected with each. Arrange to talk with pastor.

The counselor may wish to give the girl an opportunity to share or formulate thoughts to express what Baptists believe. The following may be of assistance as the counselor directs the girl in this study.

The church: What is its origins (Matt. 16:18)? Who is head of the church (Col. 1:18, Eph. 1:22; 1 Cor. 12:27)?

Salvation: How do people become members of the church (John 3:3; Eph. 2:8–9; Rom. 6:23)? What is Christ's part in salvation? (Acts 16:31)? Salvation requires two things: repentance and faith.

Scripture: How can a person know the Bible is true? How is the Bible different from other books? (2 Peter 1:21)

Baptism: Does baptism make one a Christian? What does one say to the world when he or she is baptized (Rom. 6:4; Col. 2:12)?

Lord's Supper: What does the Lord's Supper symbolize (1 Cor. 11:23–26; Matt. 26:28)?

Missions: What is the purpose of a church? How does a church win to Christ the people who live in other lands? (Matt. 28:18–20)

Trinity: The meaning of the three in one is difficult to comprehend. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are not one of these at different times; but rather fulfill the functions of all three at the same time. (Matt. 17:5; John 14:6–11, 16–17, 26)
