Leadership Connections

Collide is a coed missions event in Hawaii designed for students who have completed 9th-12th grades.

The Collide ministry projects will involve working alongside Hawaiians and their churches in activities designed to meet the needs in the communities around the churches. A pilot project was tested in Hawaii in the summer of 2006 connecting with one of WMU's ministries, called FamilyFEST. Over 50 students participated in that experience and it was wonderful. Hawaii is a beautiful place, but there is also great need there and a significant lack of volunteers. The ministry projects will be determined by the needs of the churches with whom we partner. They can vary from assistance with Vacation Bible Schools to sports camps to light construction. We'll know more about the specific requests as churches are able to determine how we might best help in meeting their needs.

We know this is going to be an incredible experience of missions and challenging students to look beyond themselves to see the needs of the world, God's call on their lives, and how they can help meet the needs of others.

Schedule Collide begins on the afternoon/evening of June 28th. On this day we will have registration and an opening celebration in the evening. Here is the basic schedule:

    June 28–Registration and Opening Celebration

June 29–Worship in local churches and mission projects

June 30—July 3–Mission Projects during the day, worship each evening and cultural experiences.

July 4–Closing Celebration in the Morning. We will be completely finished by noon on this day.

We will be ministering on the island of Oahu, and staying in the Honolulu area. We will be partnering with churches all over the island.

Transportation
Each group is responsible for their own local transportation. Groups will need to secure their own local transportation so that they have a way to and from their ministry sites each day. We will have multiple ministry sites for the week and in most cases, multiple sites each day. We will gather each morning for a time of devotion, announcements, etc, and then groups will disperse to their ministry sites

Registration
The registration cost is $325 (quad occupancy) and includes lodging, program materials, a T-shirt for every participant, and the cost of two evening meals.
